Eligibility Criteria to Join NDA.

Educational Requirements

  1. For Army Wing: A candidate who wants to join the army wing should passed the 12th exam in any stream
  2. For Navy: A candidate should have passed 12th exam in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as their basic Subjects.
  3. For Airforce: A candidate should have passed 12th exam in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as their basic Subjects

NDA Selection Procedure:

The NDA selection procedure is mainly divided into two phases, the first is a written examination and the second is the SSB interview. 

Stage 1 Written Examination.

The written examination is the first phase for the selection of Candidates. The successful candidates from the first phase are invited to participate in the next round. 

  • No of paper in the written examination is 2 (Maths and GA)
  • No of the stages in the interview is 2
  • The duration of the maths paper is 2.30 hours 
  • The duration of the GAT paper is also 2.30 hours
  • Total marks of written examination 900 (300 for maths, 600 for GAT)
  • Total marks of SSB interview session is 900

Types of questions in the written examination are objective type.

 

Stage 2 SSB Interview.

The SSB Interview is the second and final round of the NDA selection Process. The SSB interview involves two separate tests such as psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test.

Only those candidates who qualify in phase 1 are called for the second stage 

Note: Apart from this, candidates with the first choice of the airforce, and all the SSB qualified candidates with one choice as Air Force should Separately qualify the PABT(Pilot Aptitude Test) and computerised pilot selection system (CPSS).

 Career with NDA: what’s included in the training at NDA:

Cadets who are selected for the posts are first well trained before they are ready to join the respective armed forces. The training period consists of three years. The Cadets are divided into different Battalions. The NDA course is for three years and is split into six semesters. In these three years of intensive training, cadets are prepared to be strong physically, mentally and also through activities like the drill, horse riding, swimming etc. this course in education covers all subjects like Science, Technology, Arts and Military Subjects. When the course ends the candidate is awarded a bachelors degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Also, the stipend offered to the candidate after getting selected in the interviews for NDA is of Rs 15.600/- as pay in the pay band plus grade pay of Rs5,400/- which becomes a total of 21,000/- 

 

  • Army Cadets – The training gives for a period of 4 years. 3 years at NDA, Pune, and 1 year at the IMA (Indian Military Academy), Dehradun.
  • Naval Cadets – The training is given for 4 years. 3 years at NDA, Pune, and 1 year at the Naval Academy, Kerala
  • Air Force Cadets – The training is given for the period of 4 and ½  years. 3 years at NDA, Pune, and 1 and ½ years at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.

Supreme Court Allows Women ( Girls )To Appear For UPSC NDA Exam On August 18 

the Supreme Court has passed an interim order to allow women to join UPSC National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (NDA & NA) exam. The apex court has directed the concerned authority to make necessary arrangements that allow women to sit for the UPSC NDA (II) exam 2021 scheduled on November 14.
